So, as my wife and I were out grocery shopping this afternoon we visited a few different markets and I took note of some of the price variance in the food. For example, in pricesmart, a whole chicken is approximately $30, but in choices, it’s nearly 60. The difference is that choices chicken is all natural, free range, grain fed, no filler no pesticide, no bad stuff… So WHY is it double the price of the chicken who’s breasts are so full of chemicals that it will give you breast cancer? This is odd to me. Why is it that seemingly only the rich can afford to eat healthy foods? Are we at the center of some big conspiracy to kill off our poor? Maybe not, but why is it that all the foods that are the worst for us are the most affordable? There’s two bad cycles happening.
The first cycle:
Mass production of food requires harmful chemicals. We eat these chemicals. We get sick ( allergies, cancers, etc) We use ( some of us abuse ) health care, funded by our taxes…
The second cycle is a little more subtle.
Food production companies pay advertising companies. Advertising companies make ads and drive media. Media promotes the latest trend, health drink, power bar, and also… The latest snack food, ups and downs of this food or that food… Studies done show eggs are bad for your cholesterol… But they don’t finish that sentence…
Studies done show eggs are bad for your cholesterol if you eat 4 eggs daily, over consuming the daily dose! Yes, then they’re bad for your cholesterol. You can eat eggs. A few a week, not a few dozen a week.
The only secret to being healthy these days is… Are you ready?
No simple sugars! Refined sugar is poison.
Eat plenty of veggies! Just like your momma told ya!
Remember portion control! It’s key!
Deep fried stuff is bad for you!
Eat out as little as possible!
And one more thing…
Exercise… At least an hour a day!
Surprise! There’s no easy fix, no magic pill that targets a specific area on your body, no magic powder…
Get off the McDonald’s, get off the couch, eat right! And exercise!
As Arnold Schwarzenegger says: Do Eet Now!
What a game it was against the Blackhawks. At 15:42 into the first period, Edler puts the first goal in, assisted by Kassian and Henrik Sedin. It wasn’t until 9:42 into the third period that the second goal of the game was scored by P.Kane of Chicago. From here, the game went all the way to a shootout with Luongo making one of the most questionable saves in the game, with a mess of players in his crease, it almost looked as though he was pushed, with the puck, into his own net. However cameras and slow motion replays said otherwise! During the shootout, the first three shooters for each team were shut out, however, Jordan Schroeder for the Vancouver Canucks scored the first goal, which also doubles as his first goal of the season! Congratulations and Well done Schroeder! Leddy’s last shot for Chicago was blocked by Luongo making Schroeder’s goal the game winner, making this the second win in a row on home ice!
Onward and hopefully upward again as the Canucs face the Oilers!
GO CANUCKS GO!
What a game last night as Vancouver held the lead until there was just 50 seconds left in the 3rd period when Voynov pulled off a goal than can best be described as sketchy. As there were nearly six players screening Luongo, the shot was released, missing all six players and finding its way to the net, I’m wondering if Voynov could even see the net himself! This took the game to a shoot out where the kings put the final goal in place for a 3-2 win over the Canucks. A well played game by both teams, I’m sure, kept fans on the edges of their seats until the end!
Onward and hopefully upward as the Canucks face the Avalanche Wednesday night!
Go Canucks Go!
Well fans, last nights lackluster game against the sharks was anything but sportsman like! With all the fights that broke out you could have called the game Disneys brawling on ice! Especially since the first fight began at 00:00 in the first period! 60 minutes later the Canucks handed the win to San Jose with a final tally of 4-1.
Lets hope tonight’s game against the kings goes better than the sharks!
Go Canucks Go!
So, by reading my blog, you’ll probably gather that I’m a Canucks Fan…
Saturday Jan 19th, marked the return of the ‘Nucks with their inaugural game in Vancouver against the Ducks. It was a sad night for ‘Nucks fans as the Ducks dominated the game with a 7-3 win. The turnaround came just 6 days later in Anaheim as the Ducks got served a shut out on a silver platter by our beloved Canucks. As my wife and I watched the game, all I hoped for was a 4-0 shut out to give the Ducks back the same lead they beat ‘Nucks with in Vancouver, and not a moment after I said that, Raymond, assisted by Shroeder, put in the fifth and final goal of the game!
Onward to San Jose’!
GO CANUCKS GO!
